Host Communities
Active participation of faith-based Communities is essential. Host Communities provide 4-5 weeks of hospitality each year. This usually means converting classrooms into bedrooms for guest families. Volunteers serve as "dinner hosts" providing meals and a warm welcome into the community, and as "overnight hosts" sleeping at the church with our guests. Host Communitites also provide weekly bus passes for guests. Each Host recruits a Volunteer Coordinator, who is responsible for scheduling and supervising the volunteers on location. This Coordinator, or team of coordinators, is an important link between the Network Director and the Host Community.
