Hosting Means
  • Providing 4-5 weeks of hospitality in a calendar year

  • Giving your community the unique opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children and their families.

  • Opening your hearts and house of worship to real families, right here in Toledo, who are suffering from poverty.

  • Host Communities

Active participation of faith-based Communities is essential.  Host Communities provide 4-5 weeks of hospitality each year. This usually means converting classrooms into bedrooms for guest families.   Volunteers serve as "dinner hosts" providing meals and a warm welcome into the community, and as "overnight hosts" sleeping at the church with our guests. Host Communitites also provide weekly bus passes for guests.

Each Host recruits a Volunteer Coordinator, who is responsible for scheduling and supervising the volunteers on location. This Coordinator, or team of coordinators, is an important link between the Network Director and the Host Community.

    Support Communities

Some communities join Family Promsie in a role supporting one of our Hosts. They provide volunteers to cover one or two full shifts during each rotation, and may provide financial support or other items to assist with the hosting week.

    Associate Communities

Associate communities are those which support Family Promise solely through monetary donations.   Financial contributions from Host, Support and Associate Communities are essential to our success, and to our ability to continue to help families in need.
